3rd January 2010 - End of run for beaten Pools.
Pools excellent run of victories came to an end at Meadow Lane today, with a heavy 0-3 defeat by Notts County. Despite the defeat Pools are still sitting pretty a point outside of the play-off positions.

1st January 2010 - Happy New Year for Pools.
What a great way to start the new year. A 4-2 victory at the Vic over an Oldham Athletic side propelled Pools to the heady heights of 7th in the table.
Happy New Year to all Poolies!

24th August 2010 - Latics knock Pools out of cup.
Despite a decent performance Pools have been beaten 3-0 by Premier League Wigan Athletic at the Vic.

21st August 2010 - Wadsworth off to a great start.
Mick Wadsworth's first game in charge end in an impressive victory against a poor Yeovil Town side at Huish Park. A first half goal from Gary Liddle and a blockbuster from Andy Monkhouse early in the second maintain Pools' unbeaten record in the 2010-11 season.

19th August 2010 - Shock departures from the club.
Pools have today annouced the resignations of both Director of Sport, and current manager, Chris Turner and Chief Execture Russ Green. No doubt we, the fans, will never know the reasons behind their departures although if the rumours are to be believed we may need to look towards the Steel city for more information. Mick Wadsworth, who joined the club as Turner's assistant in the summer, will take charge of the team for their trip to Somerset at the weekend. Despite last season's performances and result there was no doubt of Chris Turner's passion for the club, I wish him well for the future.

14th August 2010 - Pools remain unbeated in 2010-11.
After finally gaining international clearance from the Uruguayan FA Fabian Yantorno made his debut from the bench in Pools' 2-2 draw with Swindon Town, in their first home league game of 2010-11. Pools looked to have had the game won after going 2-0 up before the quarter hour mark, but two second half goals for the visitors meant that both teams shared the points.

7th August 2010 - Pools blunt Blades in League Cup.
Pools put in a vintage performance in from on the BBC cameras to beat Sheffield United in the Carling Cup 1st round. 7th August 2010 - Season opener ends in frustration.
Pools get their 2010-11 season of to a frustrating start, with a 0-0 draw against a newly promoted Rochdale side. Paul Murray and Evan Horwood both make their debuts at Spotland in a game where they should've left with all the points, a mixture of the Dale keeper, named the man of the match by the sponsors, last ditch defending and poor finishing kept the ball out of the net.
Also making it's first appearance for the club was the new away strip, taking inspiration from the kit that Holland wore on their World Cup campaign, hopefully it will inspire the team to play the total football that the Dutch teams of the past made famous.

6th August 2010 - Excitement builds on the eve of the season.
After the disappointment of last season, the new 2010-11 season is almost underway, despite being one of the bookies favourites for the drop the club have strengthened the squad with the signings of Paul Murray, Fabian Yantorno and Evan Horwood. The season gets underway on Saturday with a visit to Sporland to face Rochdale who will start their first season outside of the bootom division for many years.

8th May 2010 - Pools survive last day agony.
Pools failed to take all three points at Brentford, but the 0-0 draw was enough to keep them up on goal difference from Gillingham. A difficult season overall, not helped by the admin cock-up over Liddle's suspension, but at least we've ended the 2009-10 season ahead of the bottom 4. Hopefully changes in personel over the summer will ensure that we don't have to look anxiously over our shoulders towards the end of 2010-11

5th May 2010 - Pools lost three points.
As expected, Pools were today docked three points by the Football League for fielding an ineligible player on Easter Monday. The club were given the penalty for playing Gary Liddle against Brighton after he'd picked up his tenth booking of the season on Easter Saturday at Leyton Orient. Obviously this throws the club back into the relegation dogfight after guarenteeing their survival last Saturday.

6th March 2010 - A threesy win for Pools.
A dominant perfrmance from Pools, and in particular recent loan signing Roy O'Donovan, condemn fellow strugglers Southend United to defeat at the Vic'. A hat-trick from O'Donovan secures a 3-0 victory, Pools' second home victory by three goals in a row.

6th February 2010 - Leeds lose leads as Pools pick up a point.
Pools come from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw against high flying Leeds United at the Vic'. A Goal from Adam Boyd and Antony Sweeney's injury time equaliser mean that the spoils are shared.

26th January 2010 - Pools fail to win again.
Pools end run of 3 defeats on the spin with a lacklustre 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Gillingham at the Vic'.

23rd January 2010 - Another defeat on the road.
Pools come away from Bristol Rovers with their tails between their legs after a 0-2 defeat. The loss leaves the club only 4 points above the drop zone with 19 games to play in the 2009-10 season.

16th January 2010 - Heavy defeat for lacklustre United.
Milton Keynes Dons put Pools to the sword as they thrash Pools 0-5 at the Vic', United's worst home defeat since the 1-8 defeat to Plymouth Argyle on the last day of the 1993-94 season.

2nd January 2010 - Happy New Year for Pools.
The first game of the new decade ends with a battling 2-1 victory over Oldham Athletic. Goals from Richie Jones and Andy Monkhouse ensure victory despite Peter Hartley's late red card.

24th November 2009 - First meeting with the Saints ends in defeat.
Southampton leave with the points in their first ever competitive match against Pools, Ritchie Jones being sent from the field and Denis Behan leaving on a stretcher rub salt into Pools' wounds in the 3-1 defeat.

21st November 2009 - Huddersfield too strong for Pools.
Gary Liddle's first goal in almost a year is not enough to take anything away from the Galpham. Huddersfield Town, who had scored 6 in each of their last two home games, ended the game as 2-1 victors.

14th November 2009 - Boydy condemns former club to defeat.
Adam Boyd's first goal in front of the Town End since returning, is the only goal against his former club Leyton Orient. In difficult playing conditions, Pools have the better of the game and put last week's FA Cup exit to bed. Pools sit in 9th position in the table after a great run of League form which shows 4 wins and 3 draws from the last 8 matches.

9th October 2009 - Pools must Bee happy with point.
In terrible condidtions at Victoria Park, Pools and Brentford play out a goalless draw. With almost a quarter of the 2009-10 season gone (time flies!) Pools lie in 15th place, and look to be in for another difficult season.

19th September 2009 - Pools lose way on the road.
Pools suffer their first away defeat of the 2009-10 season with a 2-0 defeat at Colchester United. In a game dominated by penalties, the U's converted two of their three attempts to end Pools great away record.

12th September 2009 - Home duck broken.
Pools' finally pick up a their first home point of the 2009-10 season with a draw in an albeit lacklustre performance against Wycombe Wanderers. Adam Boyd's first League goal since returning to the club cancels out the Chairboys strike.

4th September 2009 - Playing away suits Pools.
Pools' great away form in the 2009-10 season continues with another victory on the road. Goals for James Brown, Leon McSweeney and Denis Behan put Oldham Athletic to the sword. A comprehensive victory for a classy Pools side.

29th August 2009 - Canaries fly home with points.
The first League meeting with Norwich City ends in another home defeat. That's three home league defeats out of three in the 2009-10 season. Colin Larkin makes his first start for the club.

25th August 2009 - Pools stretch Premier side.
For the second round running Pools take a club from a higher division into Extra Time this time it's Premier League Burnley who play for 120 minutes against Chris Turners men in the 2009-10 Carling Cup. Adam Boyd's second goal in the competition is sadly not enough as Burnley equalise 6 minutes from time then take the lead in Extra Time.

22nd August 2009 - Icelandic international signs!
Before tonight's Cup tie the club have announced the signing of Icelandic international Armann Smari Bjornsson. The 6 foot 5 giant can play at the back or up front and should give Pools a different dimension at either end of the pitch. Will he be the new Amby Fogarty??

22nd August 2009 - Another clean sheet on our travels.
A great result for Pools at Gillingham means that the club are still to concede away from home in the 2009-10 season, alright we've only played three games but still! James Brown's first goal since October gives Pools all three points and sends the couple of hundred Poolies home with smiles on their faces.

18th August 2009 - Poor showing from Pools.
Another disappointing result in the early stages of the new season. A 1-2 defeat to Bristol Rovers at the Vic' leaves Pools with one point on the board after three games. The only plus points were James Brown starting his first match in nine months, following knee ligament damage sustained in the corresponding fixture last season and Denis Behan finding the net for the first time.

18th August 2009 - Another day, another new player!
Chris Turner has once again strengthened his squad with the signing of young striker Billy Greulich who has impressed on trial during the pre-season friendlies. The 18 year old former Brandon United front man isn't eligible for tonight's game but could in contention for a sub spot at Gilingham.

15th August 2009 - Pools lose out at the Vic'
Pools' first home game of the new season ends in disappointment against Charlton Athletic. Neil Austin comes off the bench to become Pools' 8th debutant of the season.

15th August 2009 - Sky Blues sent to Coventry
Another giantkilling performance for Pools' in their second game of the new season at Coventry City's impressive Ricoh Arena. Colin Larkinmakes his debut and Adam Boyd plays, and scores, in the first game in his second spell with the club. Burnley at home is the prize for this great result.

8th August 2009 - And we're off.....
After what seemed like a lifetime, the 2009-10 Football League season is finally underway! A excellent point at Milton Kenyes is the reward for the hard work that the players have put in over the summer. A team containing 6 debutants puts in a performance akin to a team who have known each other for years, a great sign. Stand out players for me were Jon-Andre Fredriksen who was assured with the ball, showed a good range of passing and wasn't afraid to put his foot in and Gary Liddle who looked at home at the back against a team tipped for good things this year.

7th August 2009 - T'was the Night Before the Season.
It's like Christmas Eve for the football fan. The night before the opening day of the season is always a sleepless night, will the new signings fit in, will be manager get the best out of the team, will we be expectantly looking up or nervously looking down come Easter. With the likes of Norwich, Southampton and Charlton to visit there's a lot of great stadia to see and hopefully some great football to watch from Pools! Bring on the action!!

7th August 2009 - Squad strengthened again!
Despite the team being en route to Milton Keynes for tomorrow's big kick off, Chris Turner has made another dip intot he transfer market and signed Colin Larkin who has been on trial following his release from Northampton. The Irish striker is ineligible for the MK Dons game as his papers were sent to the FA after the Noon deadline, however he may play some part at the Ricoh Arena in the League Cup.

6th August 2009 - Another player signs.
The hinges on the door of Chris Turner's office will probably need a drop of oil as the club announce the eighth signing of the summer. Steve Haslam has put pen to paper after impressing during his trial, the 29 year old can play anywhere across the back and was captain of Sheffield Wednesday during Turner's time at Hillsborough. Good luck Steve!

5th August 2009 - New layout for POOLstats.
Well it's been a long time coming, but I've finally given this place a lick of paint and did all those bits of DIY that usually get put off. Hopefully the changes will meet with approval and make your visit an nice one. Please let me know if you like the new style. As well as the sprucing up I've added a lot of new opposition data, there's new a page for every team we've had transfer dealings with as will as the teams we've played. There is a greatly increased number of player pages which now includes players from both the War Leagues and the Non-League era. Each player also has a full list of game they've appeared in for the club.

6th May 2009 - Not a moment too soon!!
The 2008-09 season has finally finished, a frankly, shocking season for the club. Thankfully the season didn't last a few more weeks so we will be facing the likes of Norwich, Charlton and Southampton rather than Aldershot, Macclesfield and Barnet. Acheiving anything next will depend on the quality of player that we can attract to the Vic', already there's good news with the announcement of Boydy returning (hopefully in the post Boston shape!!) which should go some way to dampen the blow of losing Joel Porter who has been the best player on show for most of the season.

7th May 2008 - 2007-08 finally over!
The 2007-08 season draws to an end with a point at Walsall. A season of disappointment compared with most in the last ten years, but a solid finish of 15th can hopefully be a buliding block to more success in 2008-09.

11th August 2007 - Michael Maidens R.I.P.
It's with sadness that I write this update. Michael Maidens was last night killed in a road accident. Michael made 31 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring one goal. His goal (v Hudderfield, 11/03/2006) was named Pools Goal Of The Season for 2005-06. He was only 20.
My thoughts are with Michael's family and friends.

11th August 2007 - It's here at last!
After three months without competitive football and 15 months after leaving League One the 2007-08 League One campaign is under way! Sadly, the new season has begun with a 2-1 defeat at Kenilworth Road, but there's plenty of positives to take from the game.

9th May 2007 - Good luck Effy.
The announcement of the retained list from the club today has brought the blue and white curtain down on 10 of the clubs pro's. With 768 games under their collective belt, most of the released players have been likely candidates for a while due to high wages, old legs or youngsters who are surplus to requirements, but one in particular stands out for me as a big gamble.
Eifion Williams's release today marks the end of a 6 year Pools career, covering our most successful period to date. I'm sure that a League Two team will be Effy's destination, and they will take him to their heart, as we have since his debut in a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers at the Vic' in February 2002.

8th May 2007 - Bring on the Leeds!!
The usual ups and downs throughout the season, ending in a sadly familar strange feeling of both absolute joy and disappointment. A staggering turn around from 16th place after 17 games, to the top of the league before February was out. Losing the title on the last day is hard to take, but it's difficult to be downbeat about what is statistically proven to be our best ever season. Hopefully we can rediscover our form of the Spring and kick off another successful season in 2007-08.

15th April 2007 - Pools are going up!
Na na, na na, na na, na na, na, na, na. We're going up, going up, Pools are going up!

Less that 12 months have passed since we were condemned to the basement, our return to League One has been confirmed after a great win at Wycombe Wanderers. Records have fallen left, right and centre but there's one more big prize still to be won and the players aren't taking their foot off the gas. Come on lads.

4th August 2006 - 2006-07 Kicks off!
The new season excitement is slowing being replaced by nerves as the kick off approaches. A lack of signings is surprising but Wilson's philosophy of seeing how the land lies before he brings anyone in, is a good move. The first eleven is strong enough to challenge, but a few injuries in certain positions could really cause problems. Hopefully we'll have a lot to cheer this year, and end the season on a high. Come on Pools!!

31st July 2006 - Good luck Boydy.
Well, the rumours have been rife for weeks, and today Adam Boyd's move to Luton Town has been finalised. Boydy leaves his hometown club having made quite an impression since his debut in November 1999 in a 3-0 victory over Barnet. Goals like his first against Shrewsbury Town and the chip that clinched his hat-trick against Sheffield Wednesday in April 2005 will always stay in the memory. 60 goals in 170 games is a good return for a young player whose inconsistancy almost led to a permanent move to Boston United, how different thing would've been had Boston met our £5,000 fee!
Good luck in your career, Adam. Except when you come up against Pools!

4th July 2006 - Wilson appoints assistant.
United announce that former Norwich player Ian Butterworth will be Danny Wilson's second in command. The ex-Cardiff assistant manager joins the club after arriving from Germany where he assisted the FA with scouting for the World Cup. Butterworth holds UEFA B, A and Pro Licences so his appointment seems to be a good step forward, from the inexperience that we've had for a number of years. The only blot on his CV is a spell at Feethams assisting Dogdy Hodgy!!

13th June 2006 - Danny Wilson appointed.
After a long period of uncertainty Pools have named former MK Dons, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday boss, Danny Wilson as the club's forty-second manager. A good move to being in an experienced man, hopefully he'll be able to stamp his authority on the team and we can forget about 2005-06. Details of Wilson's managerial career so far can be found in the Staff section.

8th May 2006 - 2005-06 Season Update.
The 2005-06 season has been updated to include the final league game of what was a terrible season for the club. The last in League One for at least 15 months despite having, I think every fan will agree, one of the best squads that the club has every had. We all know that the injuries along with a number of failed signings (at both player and management level) has cost us dear, but we will have to look to the future with games against Rochdale, Macclesfield and Mansfield once again becoming our league staples.

9th July 2005 - 1908-09 Teamsheets and player info.
A major update of the 1908-09 is now viewable. Starting XI's for every game played, in the North-Eastern League, F.A. Cup, Durham Senior Cup and various friendlies including the clubs first overseas tour. Also details of every player who appeared for Pools in it's first season is also avalable to look at. All data for the club's first season have been kindly supplied by the author of a new book 'In The Beginning - Hartlepools United 1908-1921'. Keep checking the site for more details of release dates and places to buy the book from.

23rd June 2005 - 2005-06 Fixtures!.
The most important day in the close season calendar is upon us! The release of the 2005-06 league fixtures. The Current Season page has been update with the relavent information.

12th June 2005 - Discipline.
New pages have been added to the List section. These concern sendings off, both for Hartlepool but also for the opposition.

11th June 2005 - List Section and menu.
A new section has been added. The List section has been created to hold a number of varied lists and info, rather that add it all in the 'Records' section which will now be solely used for actual club records.
The existing right-hand side menu is currently being updated, a bolder and more noticable list which also includes the new 'List' section. As there is over 7,000 pages the changes will take a while to filter through the entire site, but the old style menu is still fully functional.

30th May 2005 - Final Season Update.
The 2004-05 season has been updated to include the unbelievable Millennium Stadium visit.

21st May 2005 - Lyric Sheet for the Millennium.
Are you travelling to Wales with some non-Poolies, or is there people in your party that don't normally turn out at the Vic'? If so, they'll need to know the words to the Poolie anthem, Two Little Boys. I've created a PDF with the fantastic lyrics, all you need to do it print and cut, voila four people can join in!
View it HERE or right-click to Save - LINK HAS NOW BEEN REMOVED

13th May 2005 - Pools Songs.
I've made a number of United related Mp3s available for download for a short time. Enjoy while you can. - LINK HAS NOW BEEN REMOVED

4th May 2005 - Managerial page update.
After todays surprising announcement regarding Neale Cooper's departure from the Vic' the managerial pages have been updated with Cooper's averages and a new page has been added for Martin Scott.

30th April 2005 - Nail-biting season endings.
As has become traditional at this time of year, Pools have managed to make the final match of the season a high-stakes game. This has been the case for the last six seasons on the trot, and to improve the mood of Pools fans everywhere I've added details of each nail biting conclusion for your viewing pleasure. It does indeed makes for happy reading as we have managed to succeed in the majority of our final day aims despite playing four out of five (so far) away from the Vic'.
Hopefully in seven days time the final entry can be completed with a possitive outcome!

29th March 2005 - West Hartlepool's F.A. Amateur Cup win.
To commemorated the centenary of West Hartlepool's F.A. Amateur Cup win a number of new pages have been added. An excellent narrative has been kindly supplied by Colin Foster, new information regarding their route to the final and Pen-Pics of the Starting XI have both been uploaded.
The colour schemes of the new pages as well as other West centric pages, such as the timeline, have been altered to reflect the club's Amber and Black colours.

19th February 2005 - New data supplied.
The teamlist for the 1912 non-League game at Gateshead Town and player info for F.C. Mearns has been kindly contributed by a Hartlepool fan and historian, keep your eyes peeled for more in the future.

11th February 2005 - Poolstats to supply data.
I'm pleased to annouce that Poolstats are to supply data to the Official site for their 'Stat Attack' feature in the build up to every match. I'm happy to know that the club, as well as the fans are apreciative of my efforts for this site.

22nd January 2005 - 74 'New' Players Found!
I've fixed a glaring ommission in the player data section. The 74 players from the Non-League era who appeared in the F.A. Cup in Hartlepool colours have been added to the players section. I've used the individual player pages as a first rollout of the new game list stats. Selecting the 'Games Played In' link opens a pop-up with the full list of competitive games that the individual player has competed in.

15th January 2005 - Penalty Scorers
I've added yet another new section at the bottom of the Records page featuring every player who has scored a penalty as well as every game to finish with a penalty shoot out.

27th October 2004 - Substitute Scorers!
I've added a new section at the bottom of the Records page featuring every player who has scored after coming on as a substitute.

15th October 2004 - Hat-Tricks!
In honour of Tony Sweeney's hat-trick today I've added a new section at the bottom of the Records page featuring every player who has bagged a hat-trick (and more) for Pools.

3rd October 2004 - Loanee Info.
I've added a new section to the Players page. You can now view a full list of loan players to play for Pools, in a variety of different orders.

30th August 2004 - Bank Holiday Update.
The 2004-05 season has been updated to the Colchester game. I've also added all-time competition results in the Past Seasons section.

21st August 2004 - First update of the season.
The first four games of the 2004-05 season have been updated, as well as informartion about Kevin Betsy. A number of errors and mistakes have also been sorted out, I'm sure there's more, so please Let me know if you spot any.

4th August 2004 - Welcome one and all!!
Well, as the heading suggest Pool Stats is open for business today!! I hope you like it and are informed and entertained. Please let me know your views on the site.

7th June 2004 - Happy Birthday to PoolStats!!
Well, as the heading suggest PoolStats is One today!! No cake and pop, or balloons and streamers for it however as there's a lot of work to be done before the grand opening on 4th August. That gives me just enough time to nip over to Portugal for a while!!

17th February 2004 - Reserve league tables.
Again it's been a while, unfortunately, there seems to be less and less time to complete the historical detail. This time I've researched a large poprortion of the reserve league tables, there is still a number of missing seasons (58-77 and 88-98) but it's a good foundation.

6th January 2004 - 2003-04 Apps updated.
It's a while since I last updated the site, but I've got a lot of work behind the scenes sorted out, hopefully we should be 100% ready soon.
Anyway, I've updated the 2003-04 appearence data on both the Fixtures/Results list and the Players page (both for the individuals and the lists in order of apps/goals etc.)

16th Novmeber 2003 - Positional graph added.
I've added a graph showing the all-time finishing league (and non-league) positions. it can be accessed from the seasons page, by clicking on the 'All-Time' link at the top.

10th Novmeber 2003 - Final seasons uploaded!!!
WOW!!! - It's been a while in coming, but all 90 seasons are now uploaded, results list, match details, league table and appearance data for every year is now available to browse through.

There is still a heck of a lot of stuff left to do, but the site is definately, ready for action!

6th Novmeber 2003 - Ten seasons uploaded.
Ten (yes, 10!!) new seasons have been uploaded, these are the 1970's seasons 1970's seasons. This upload only includes match data for the first four seasons, but result listing, league table and appearance data for all years are there to look at. Also updated are the entire Opposition data, now showing all-time stats, as well as the entire meeting record!!
The reason that it's been so long since a site update, is because I felt that it would be more advantageous to finish my spreadsheets with the seasonal data and the combined all-time meeting stats, rather than update the site little by little. As you've probably guessed, I have now completed my spready's and should have ALL the data up in the next few weeks!! - Please sign up for the mailing list for first notification of the grand opening!!!!!!!!

8th October 2003 - Two more years.
Two new seasons have been uploaded, these are the 1968-69 and the 1969-70 seasons. This upload includes all match data, result listing, league table and appearance data.

Only two decades left!!

5th October 2003 - The 68 promotion year complete.
Three new seasons have been uploaded, these are the 1965-66, 1966-67 and the 1967-68 promotion season. This upload includes all match data, result listing, league table and appearance data.

4th October 2003 - More pieces added.
Yet another update without adding any game data! I've added a Suggestion box to let me know of any changes you'd like to see made or things that I could add to improve the site. I've made a few changes to the home page (as you've probably spotted) - I've changed the way that the completion status is displayed, instead of a table, there's now a ticker, that uses up a lot less space. The last thing I've added is the 'Birthday Greeting' below the title on the home page.

Happy Birthday Mam!

1st October 2003 - Mailing List created!
No seasons updates today (Shock Horror!!!) I've created a mailing list form for users to fill out, hopefully I will be able to keep you all up to date with changes with having to come on to the site everyday - not that I don't want hits, believe me! - Although, if you do sign up there won't be an awful lot of correspondance at this stage, but I'll try to keep on top of things. Also, I've changed the contact me and the Sources pages.

30th September 2003 - Two thirds done!!
Another two seasons are finished, the 1963-64 and the 1964-65 season have been uploaded, with full results list, individual match data along with the league table and appearance pages.

This means that there is only 30 seasons to go!! COME ON!

28th September 2003 - 62-63 season complete.
Another season has been completed, the 1962-63 season has been uploaded, with full results list, individual match data along with the league table and appearance pages.
I've added some information to the player pages, where applicable, the pages now include seasons in which the player finished as top scorer, or where he made the most apps as well as showing the players position if he is in the top 50 scorers or appearance listing for any competitions.

25th September 2003 - More seasons are complete.
Another two season have been completed, the 1960-61 and the 1961-62 seasons have been uploaded, with full results list, individual match data along with the league table and appearance pages. I've also updated all seasons with the new table and appearance pages.

24th September 2003 - Change to season data.
I've changed the way that the season data is displayed, the league table and where applicable the re-election details are no longer displayed on the same page as the result listing. Now the 'league table' link will open a new browser session, the new page will only have the table and the votes. Hopefully this change should make both screens a lot quick in loading.

Another change to the season pages is the creation of a new 'apps' link, this link works in the same way as the new 'table' link, a new browser session opens displaying that seasons appearance data. Currently only the seasons upto 1959-60 have been updated.

22nd September 2003 - 1950's done!
Another two seasons have been uploaded!! The 1958-59 and 1959-60 are done. This includes our biggest ever victory of 10-1 over Barrow. On to the swinging sixties and ur first promotion...

21st September 2003 - Division Three (N) Complete
More seasons are now complete!! The 1954-55, 1955-56, 1956-57 and the 1957-58 seasons have all been uploaded. This includes our best ever finish of 2nd in 1956-57 and also the famous game against the Busby Babes. This upload means that our entire Division Three (North) historical data is now on the site! Yay, although, there's still over 35 years left to sort out.

17th September 2003 - Season 49 finished!
Yet another season has been completed. The 1953-54 season has been uploaded. This brings the total to 49 seasons out of 90 have been completed!!
I've also completed (not including match data for 1951-1989) the first four days of the year in the 'On This Day' section.

16th September 2003 - Another batch done!
The seasons keep appearing as quickly as Pools goals on a Friday night!!! The 1950-51, 1951-52 and 1952-53, seasons are complete! The results list and individual match data have both been uploaded to the site.

This update has filled the first of the directories I had to set up when the 'too many files' problem occurred. The directory now hold data for matches numbered 0001-1500, hopefully the switch to the 1501-3000 directory should be seamless and fingeres crossed it should start to fill up nicely
I've also update the Contact page with an acknowledgements section.

14th September 2003 - Halfway (ish)!!!!!
Another four seasons are now complete (1946-47, 1947-48, 1948-49 and 1949-50) Which all means that the site is pretty much halfway on the road to completion.

45 out of 90 seasons are now complete, as are 2,075 (out of 4,195) matches. This is dead on halfway (although to be precise I'm 2 games away from 50% completion, but who's counting? - Alright, I know I am, whatever!). The Staff Section was the first part to be 100% complete, the Player records are 100% complete and the opposition data is all complete bar the 1946-1989 meeting listings.

The only thing that's letting the side down is the "On This Day" section which is a massive ZERO percent complete!!! - I intend to leave this section until the rest of the data is finished, although as with most things I may decide to do something sooner rather than later.

13th September 2003 - All Opposition data complete
Over the last week or so I've complete the whole opposing team data pages these include club info, directions (for the league and conference clubs) head to head stats and listings of every game played - although, there is no data for the years 46-47 up to 89-90 as I haven't started on that yet.

I think I've done well to get these pages done correctly as I was working on them while listening to Pools World comm of that game!!! - I still can't believe that we scored eight times, FANTASTIC!

3rd September 2003 - Pre War Complete!
Over the last couple of days I've complete another five seasons (matches and listings). These are, 1934-35, 1935-36, 1936-37, 1937-38 and 1938-39. This means that the entire pre-war record (1908-1939) is now complete as well as the Victory leagues during the second world war and every season from 1990-91 up to 2002-03. Marvellous!

29th August 2003 - Moving house!
Hopefully all of the file that needed moving to their new home have now been filed in the correct places (what are the chances!!) All the games from 1908 until 1934 and the games played during the war (pretty much a thousand) should be viewable, as should be all games played between 1990 and 2003 (around six hundred files). These can be viewed via the particular season. I've also updated the game list pages for each Football League season, they now will show the promoted and relegated teams as well as teams involved in any play-offs or re-election situation.

28th August 2003 - More seasons complete!
I've completed another eight!! seasons (1930-31, 1931-32, 1932-33, 1933-34, 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98 and 1998-99) obviously, as things stand with the 'too many files' situation (as Glenn would call it) the match data hasn't been uploaded although I'm hoping to have the new space sorted by tomorrow so fingers crossed it'll be sorted fully then.

26th August 2003 - Player views & listings.
I've updated the players page. The page now features a number of ways to view the player data, by ID, by Surname and also by a number of different ranking systems (League Apps, League Goals, etc.)

21st August 2003 - Assessing the situation.
I've just 'updated' the site by removing a number of match data pages as these are the ones that, I think, will have to move on to the new site. There has been a positive update as well, the player histories are now complete. All 980 players ever to pull on the blue and white in competitive first team action now have a page dedicated to them (even John Borthwick!!).

I will, at some point, create a A-Z listing of players which will aid navigation, but until then the ID's are the main way to find players (the match data that's still up should also).
After yesterday's stumbling block, I'm not sure when the next update will be, as I'll be concentrating on changing links on existing pages and trying to fathom out how to split things up. *SIGH* At least the England highlights cheered me up last night!

20th August 2003 - Not as many updates as I was expecting.
Another four seasons have been completed. These are 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95. Unfortunately, and very unexpectedly, as I was uploading the individual matches and the data of the players involved I got a lovely error message telling me that I've 'Exceeded my maximum number of files.' (Surely the size of files rather than number is more important, and as I've only used 25Mb of 100 there shouldn't be a problem) Great!?! - It would've been nice to have been warned that there was a max file number when I signed up for the web-site, but there you go. Thanks Freeserve. I've signed up for more space, on a different site so hopefully I can spilt the site between the two (or three, or four, or five..........) without any noticable difference, but this will take some time as I'll need to take stuff off this site and move it over, and also update every page (as each page links to at least one team, one player, one match, one date and one season these will all need to be changed.)
The England highlights had better be good after this!

19th August 2003 - First update for a while.
Another five seasons have been completed over the past week or so.These are 1990-91, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2002-03. Results list and individual matches are both complete as are the players information.

4th August 2003 - More new seasons.
Another seven seasons have been completed over the past few days. (Holiday? What holiday!!) These are 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26, 1926-27, 1927-28, 1928-29 and 1929-30. Results list and individual matches are both complete.

31st July 2003 - War years details.
All War seasons (from 1939 til 1946 and 1919) are now complete, all 146 match details and all 5 seasons have been uploaded.

30th July 2003 - Non-League details.
All non-league seasons (from 1908 til 1921) are now complete, all 369 match details and all 10 seasons have been uploaded.

29th July 2003 - What a lot of work!
A few updates to the site over the last few days.
Firstly, a new completion page - mainly for me to know where I'm at - has been created, also the table at the top of this page, has an overview of the completed and unfinished pages.

Secondly, the 1910-11, 1911-12 and 1912-13 seasons are finished, both results list and individual match.

23rd July 2003 - Another day another season!
Or to be more precise, a results listing. The 1990-91 season is half finished, the list is there but the individual games are not yet.

I'm going home for a week and a bit so the site won't be updated for a while, but it's only 16 days until our 4,196th competitive game (our 3,349th game in the Football League) or Posh as it's more commonly known!! Updates will resume after the trip to London Road.

22nd July 2003 - Hot on the heels!
More seasons are finished! - the Northern Victory League season 1919 and our second season in the Football League 1922-23.

21st July 2003 - First league season done!
As the heading would suggest the 1921-22 season - our first in the Football League - is completed, this included the full results list as well as each individual game page. All the players from the 1921-22 season are linked to the individual games as well.

I've also sorted out all the results list from the season 1909-10.

19th July 2003 - Another completed season!
I've uploaded the entire 1939-40 abandoned season, this included the full results list (all three games!!) as well as each individual game page. Fantastic!!

Also I've sorted out all the individual games from the season 1909-10, although the full results list isn't up as yet.

18th July 2003 - A new URL!!!
After a few days searching I've found a new home. - www.poolstats.tk - a LOT more concise than the original!

17th July 2003 - More new pages
A few more new pages are on the site, the first is a fairly boring contact me page, perhaps in the fullness of time I'll update this with more information about why I've done the site and thanks/acknowldegements etc. but for now it only has my e-mail address on there.
The second is more interesting (no, really!), the club info page is complete with current back-room staff and current playing squad although the players do not link to their stats yet (I need something to keep me busy!)

16th July 2003 - A completed season!
I've uploaded the entire 1908-09 season, this included the full results list (for the North-Eastern League and the F.A. Cup) as well as the final league table, and each individual game page. Fantastic!! One down a lot more to go!!

6-0!! At least it sounds a bit more competitive than last season's tour.

13th July 2003 - A finished section!!!!!
Finally after what seems like months, I've completed a section of the site. the Staff section is finished, this bit has listings of all former secretaries and chairmen as well as more detailed info about every previous manager. Marvellous!

12th July 2003 - Front pages for two sections.
A couple of weeks have passed since I last did anything to the site, but a few updates in the last 24 hours. The 'Past Seasons' now has a front page, although all of the links do not work yet as each season's info is yet to be sorted out.
The second update is the 'On This Day' section, or to be more precise, the front page of the section, which now hosts a calendar with 366 broken links!! although i might get around to setting up a template in the near future so watch this space! (perhaps Feb 29 would be easiest to do - I must check to see if anything has ever happened on the 29th!!)

Marco Gabbiadini!?! - I almost choked on my water when I read the SMS message from the club.

28th June 2003 - Nothing to do with the site but....
Who!?! Well, we've annouced that Neale Cooper is the new boss. My initial impression was one of surprise that we've gone for a relative unknown over the many experienced men who were being touted about, but the more I think about it, the more I think that it's a good move. He's got a good record with Ross, and appears to have a personality! (a change from the last man in charge.)
Michael Nelson seems to be a great buy as well (I must find his details to update my spready.) a quality replacement for Spike (good luck at Wednesday.)

Neale Cooper's white with blue pinstripe army!!!

21st June 2003 - Even more new pages!!
I've now added the match details for the five games against Wrexham I updated not so long ago. The details of our first league game is complete (although some of the links don't go anywhere as yet.

21st June 2003 - More new pages!!
Not only new pages but, SHOCK HORROR, actual content!! on the main opponents page I've added a looooong list of teams that will no doubt expand vastly in the coming months, the only teams I've added pages for are the div. two clubs (all have correct club info, but a layout with wrong game data). The only club I've added anything else to is Wrexham. It seemed the logical place to start as they were our first opponents in the league.
The goalscorers from the five games I've added are now selectable and will give you the details of the players invovled! - Slowly it's coming together.

21st June 2003 - A new page!!
Hopefully this site will become something great, but as it stands there's very little actual content. All I have actually uploaded is the new season's fixtures which are, hopefully, the first step on the ladder!

20th June 2003 - Fixtures!!!
Finally, after what seems like months since the season finished, the new season's (Division Two!!!!!) fixtures are out, at first glance they don't seem too bad, plenty of Southern games for me (YAY!) most being played on Saturday afternoons which is great! Hopefully I can make it to lots more games than last season. Now all I need to do is make them the first meaningful content on the site.

Let's not mention the kit....

19th June 2003 - Open for business!
I've finally found my place on the 'net - albeit, at a rather long winded URL - hopefully, once there's something significant on here I'll look at moving to a more concise address.
It's basically a shell at the moment, but fingers crossed by the start of the new season something interesting should be taking place.

7th June 2003 - Layout finalised
Well, here we are then, I've finally decided upon a style and layout for the site. I decided that rather than being too overpowering, I'd go for a simple (bland, if you like) look. Hopefully it's not too boring and to everyone's liking, now all I need is some content!!
